Ideate phase uses multiple processes and tools, in order to systematically create ideas for the possible solutions of the Problem statements. This phase involves all the stakeholders of the respective Use cases, who come together as part of the Cross-functional team.
1. Brainstorming: We start with conducting brainstorming sessions, where the team members brainstorm the problem statement and try to come up with the ideas of all possible solutions.
2. Special Brainstorming: Special brainstorming mechanisms are used to think about more possible solutions.
3. Analogies & Benchmarking: Analogies and Benchmarking processes are used to generate creative ideas from related and un-related field.
4. Affinity Diagram: All the possible solutions are grouped in various categories.
5. Dot Voting: Inputs are taken to prioritize some of the possible solutions for further evaluation.
6. Solution Tree: These prioritized possible solutions are mapped to the problems (a problem statement may consists of multiple problems - each one associated with different pain points and the Use case)
7. Impact/Effort Mapping: The possible solutions are evaluated based on Impact/Effort mapping and some of them are filtered out.
8. DFV Mapping: The filtered solutions are further evaluated from Desirability, Feasibility, and Viability perspective, and the list of solutions are narrowed down.
9. NABC: The shortlisted solutions are briefed through NABC model, in terms of their further approach. This is put as brief proposal to the leaders or user function for approval to move to the next phase. (Approval is required as the next phase 'Develop' is more resource-heavy)
10. Business Model Canvas: The shortlisted solutions are then elaborated in terms of their Business Case and Value Proposition to the User.
